The Commons Law Center is Growing; Join Us!

Our mission is to revolutionize access to basic legal services, education, and support for underserved Oregonians. In the process, we provide robust practical training for law students and new lawyers.

We are a non-profit law firm that provides sliding-scale legal services to modest means Oregonians: people making less than 400% of the federal poverty guidelines. We are complimentary to pure pro bono programs, though our mission is different. Whereas many programs serve as the safety net that provides legal help to the most underprivileged members of society, we are more like guardrails helping keep people from falling even further into poverty.

Our goal is for each of our legal services programs to be self-sustaining from earned fees, even at a vastly reduced rate. That way we can treat your charitable donations like seed capital and use it to stand-up new service offerings, build up community partnerships, and support our community education programs.

Our team consists of five interwoven groups, each of which helps further our mission while working to close the access to justice gap in Oregon.

We Need Your Support!

Your donation will help us broaden our impact and scale our services. Help close the justice gap in Oregon by contributing today.
