Greetings friends and supporters,

We could not be more excited to kick off our first year of fundraising, giving you cool items and experiences, and collaborating with amazing local non-profits and businesses.

Follow along for information about the 12 Big Give Days and the wonderful partners who are supporting us this giving season!

Skidmore Prize Winner Ekua Hackman

We are so proud of our Staff Attorney Ekua Hackman. Ekua works with our Estate Planning program and runs our Homeownership Asset Preservation Program (HAPP). HAPP is a collaborative project between the African American Alliance for Homeownership with The Commons to offer free estate plans for income-qualified Portlanders. Since the inception of this program in 2020, Ekua has delivered 64 estate plans, ensuring homeownership and wealth transfers between generations.

Ekua graduated from Willamette University College of Law in 2015. During her time in law school, Ekua was an active member of the Multicultural Law Student Association and the Women’s Law Caucus. Ekua joined The Commons because she has a passion for helping build intergenerational wealth within the Black community. Ekua also currently serves as President of the National Bar Association's Oregon Chapter and this year was awarded PBJ’s 40 Under 40.

Our Business Partners

We reached out to a variety of local businesses that both offer top-quality products and are committed to giving back to their community. We are stoked to offer a variety of goodies these businesses have generously given us for our donors. Stay tuned for these offers!

Atlas Pizza

Since 2013, Atlas Pizza has been dedicated to serving our community, bringing you the best pies in town, as well as beer and wine delivery. Atlas strives to bring Portland together through good food, drinks and rock ’n roll history at all 3 of our unique locations.

Westward Whiskey

At Westward, we’re beholden to whiskey, not the traditions that surround it. This mindset -- to set whiskey free -- informs our process, where we brew like a craft ale, distill like a Single Malt, and age like a Bourbon. We pursue perfection by building flavor in every step of the way. There are no shortcuts in our long, deliberate process, and therein lies the beauty.

Elk Cove Vineyards

The first vineyard and winery in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, Elk Cove is known for estate grown Pinot Noir & cool climate white wines.

Sesame Donuts

Sesame Donuts is rated as one of the best donut shops in the Portland area. We are famous for our unique sesame donuts, donut holes, cake, raised donuts, pastries, and other Middle East delicacies.

Freeland Spirits

Award Winning, one of a kind women owned and run distillery delivering the taste of the Northwest everywhere.

Shake Shack

Shake Shack serves elevated versions of American classics using only the best ingredients. It's known for its delicious made-to-order Angus beef burgers, crispy chicken, hand-spun milkshakes, house-made lemonades, beer, wine, and more.

Helioterra Wines

Helioterra is a small artisan producer of Northwest wines from exceptional regional vineyards. We craft wines that are pretty, elegant, and graceful in style.

Our Non-Profit Partners

The Pixie Project

Loving pets and people through personalized pet adoption and low-cost veterinary assistance. Pixie brings together local families with amazing rescue cats and dogs through family-friendly adoption services. Pixie is also committed to helping owners keep their existing pets happy, healthy, and in their homes by offering vital veterinary care, medications, food, and supplies to the pets and people most in need in our community.

Our support is available regardless of gender identification, sexual orientation, age, and immigration status to ensure anyone escaping violence can access the resources they deserve. We honor the depth and diversity of lived experiences across our community.

Clackamas Women's Services

Clackamas Women’s Services helps individuals and families experiencing and healing from domestic and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, stalking, dating violence, and trafficking. We work with survivors currently experiencing violence to plan for their safety, as well as help to heal from trauma in the past. Our programs and services are free, confidential, available in multiple languages, and with any accommodations needed.

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon

At Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, we work alongside those most impacted by hunger and poverty to advocate for systemic changes and better access to food. We believe everyone has the right to be free from hunger. To bring that vision into reality, we raise awareness about hunger, connect people to nutrition programs, and advocate for systemic changes.

Growing Gardens

Growing Gardens is a Portland, Oregon based 501(c)3 nonprofit using the experience of growing food in schools, backyards, and correctional facilities to cultivate healthy and equitable communities.

Sisters of the Road

Sisters of the Road is a social justice organization that uplifts the dignity and autonomy of people experiencing poverty through low/no-cost meals, education and training, a barter work program, advocacy, and a welcoming community space for all.
